Nicholas Clooney, 80, confirmed his son’s surprise engagement to human rights lawyer Amal Alamuddin, 36, after her British law firm issued a congratulatory statement hours earlier.
"It's true, and we’re thrilled. We think Amal is a wonderful girl, and it's wonderful news. We think it will be a great marriage," Nicholas Clooney told The News in a phone interview.
"This is their time, and they’ll have their own announcement to make, but suffice it to say, Nina and I are thrilled,” he said, referring to the Hollywood hunk’s mother Nina Clooney.
